Ditch the aluminum bent Sand Track recovery plates, metal shackles/stirrups, heavy folded recovery pulleys, and steel winch ropes. MAXTRAX is here!
How did it come about?
Adventurer Brad McCarthy, author of Dirty Weekends' "The Essential 4WD Guides," came up with the idea for MAXTRAX in 2001 after a particularly stressful incident on a remote beach in northern Queensland, Australia, where he nearly lost his stranded vehicle to an incoming tide. His car was equipped with traditional extrication equipment, yet he was unable to extricate the stuck vehicle efficiently and quickly from this dangerous situation. His passion for the Australian bush, adventure sent him, often alone all over Australia, to explore nature, observe wildlife, find new routes and describe remote places, so that everything he learned could be used in his guides.
After this unpleasant experience, Brad sensed the need to always have a simple, light and accessible rescue system with the help of which it is possible to easily and safely and quickly free the vehicle from a sudden situation of being stuck in the terrain, and that only with the presence of one person without any additional help from another vehicle , winch, etc.
That's how MAXTRAX MK was born!. In 2004, after testing many unsuitable prototypes of plastic rescue plates, Brad approached the Australian company Dienamics, led by Mark Serisiero. Together they designed the first prototype and subsequently designed and produced the mold for the original MAXTRAX MKI.
Since 2005, MAXTRAX recovery plates have been used by travelers with 4x4s, ATVs, UTVs and buggies all over the world.
They are also widely used by mining, energy companies, rescuers and firefighters, rally drivers and, last but not least, the military, led by the US Army and UN troops.
In 2010, the new MAXTRAX MKII skid plate won the Global Media Awards for Best New Product at the largest off-road and travel trade show, SEMA, in Las Vegas, USA.
May you always dig in wherever your passion takes you!
